Artist Statement

I am a stage manager and artist supporter. I make enjoyable, professional, and welcoming environments in the theater and through performances that connect people and build relationships. I believe that art in general is all about connection, theatre especially. There is no limits to the connections that can be formed in a space of pure artistic expression. Often, I am influenced by the people I work with, as I am to help them create the best work that they can, and I am honored to be a part of that. Stage management has made me who I am today, and it is a skill that I am proud to have. I am confident in my work and my ability to complete it, as leadership has always been a part of who I am. Bringing people together is essential to putting on a great performance.

Artist Bio

Makayla Keeney is a theatre professional and a stage manager. Beyond stage management, Keeney has led in a wide variety of theatrical roles such as directing, coordination, and design. She always has been dedicated to enforcing a productive and efficient environment for herself and her colleagues. Keeney is passionate about keeping her team safe and happy, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed. In her years of experience, she has grown to love all styles of theatre and performance but focuses on experimental and original pieces of theatre. Keeney has an B.A. in Arts Management and Performing Arts: Theatre from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and currently resides in North Adams, Massachusetts.
